Golf Resorts That Don’t Make You Pay Extra To Golf
One of the most appealing aspects of staying at a golf resort is the convenience it affords. Guests can wake up to the sight of impeccable courses, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and then head out for a round of golf without ever leaving the property.
Of course, no discussion of golf resorts would be complete without addressing greens fees—the cost of playing a round of golf at these idyllic destinations. While the price of admission may vary depending on factors such as the time of year, course prestige, and resort amenities, one thing remains constant: the value of the experience.
I recently was creating a quote for a client and came across the absolutely terrifying prices of these golf resorts. They have you pay a premium to stay at their resort and then charge hundreds a day for golfing on the resort you already paid a premium at.
Sandals Resorts Fixed This Issue
Do you remember the old commercials they used to air for Sandals resorts? Well, turns out they still exist and are thriving. They have 3 locations that offer premium golf courses & country clubs with no greens fees.
Sandals Regency La Toc, St. Lucia
Sandals Regency La Toc is a 5-star, all-inclusive, adults-only resort in Castries, St. Lucia on a 220-acre tropical estate with a half-mile crescent-shaped beach. The resort has 11 pools, 10 whirlpools, 27 restaurants, and 21 bars, plus a golf course, spa, horseback riding, and hot tub. Some say it's a romantic getaway and a lovers' paradise with a lush green and ocean front backdrop.
The Sandals Regency La Toc Golf Club in Castries, St. Lucia is a 9-hole, par 33, executive-style golf course that's 3,141 yards long. The course winds through a tropical valley with hillsides, mango trees, and other greenery, and offers views of the Caribbean Sea. Some say the course is challenging but fun, with tight holes that require accuracy. The seventh hole is a par 5 that takes golfers above the resort to a green on a bluff with a view of the sea.
Sandals Ochi is a luxury, all-inclusive resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It's the largest Sandals resort, with 525 rooms and suites, 105 pools, and 22 whirlpools. The resort is set on 100 acres of hillside gardens overlooking the Caribbean Sea, and offers a variety of accommodations, dining options, and activities.
Sandals Golf & Country Club an 18-hole, par 71 golf course that's popular with Sandals resort guests who receive complimentary green fees. The course is located in the hills 750 feet above sea level and features rolling terrain, narrow fairways, and small greens. Some say the course is forgiving and has a combination of elevation and undulation, while others say it's short and seems easy at first glance.
Sandals Emerald Bay is a luxurious, all-inclusive, adults-only resort on Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas. The 500-acre property has a mile-long white-sand beach, three pools, a 133-slip marina, and 245 accommodations. The resort offers unlimited meals and drinks at 11 restaurants, including seafood options, as well as unlimited land and water sports like scuba diving, kayaking, paddle boarding, beach volleyball, and tennis.
The award-winning course is recognized as one of the most scenic ocean-side golf courses in the Caribbean, with six signature holes hug the coastline of a peninsula. A 7,001-yard, 18-hole oceanside championship golf course designed by Greg Norman, the course is known for its challenging fairways and scenic views, with six holes along the coastline of a peninsula. The course opened in 2003 and has hosted the Korn Ferry Tour's Bahamas Great Exuma Classic since 2015.
These resorts also provide free transfers to some of the most prestigious courses in the Caribbean. Sandals La Toc Golf Resort & Spa, for example, has a 3,141-yard, nine-hole golf course where guests can play unlimited rounds for free.
And what better way to indulge in golf than by immersing oneself in the tranquil ambiance of a Caribbean resort?
